Taking Care Of Stains Right After The Spill

By

Whether it’s red wine, your child’s juice, or finger paint, there’s always that moment when each of those things finds their way onto your carpeting. No homeowner ever wants to deal with stains, but they also don’t want to deal with appliances breaking, but things happen when you own a home. So, we’re here to help you get those stains out of the carpet before they settle and you need to invest in real carpet cleaners.

Stain Removal Tips To Always Remember

First, let’s get the easy cleaning tips out of the way for when you’re removing any type of stain from your carpet, because there’s a right way and a wrong way to get this done.

  • Blot the stain dry from the outside and work your way in.
  • Rinse the stain thoroughly with water, and then blot it again from the outside in.
  • Don’t ever scrub the stain, this will just spread the coloring and the stain and ruin your carpet fibers.

Removing Specific Stains

For a majority of spills that occur on your carpet, a simple home-made cleaning solution of 1/4 detergent (non-bleach), and 32 ounces of water mixed together. This solution will remove stains caused by alcoholic beverages, colas, food dyes, jelly, mud, etc.

If a spill occurs and it’s a thicker substance such as chocolate, coffee, tea, and red wine, you want to mix yourself a more powerful cleaning solution. For this, you’ll want to make a solution that is one part chlorine bleach and five parts water. However, this is a cleaning solution you only want to use on solution dyed carpeting.

Hopefully those home-made cleaning solutions and stain removal tips will help you with any future spills that land on your carpeting. If the stains are too hard to remove, contact us at A1A Extreme Green, and we’ll help make your carpet look brand new again.
